  • 2018-2019 Queen of the Furrow
    is Maggie Robinson from Ripley.
  • Bruce County competitors showed well at the International Plowing Match in Chatham-Kent. Scott Thomas competed in the walking plow category in horse plowing (class 1-1). He was joined by tractor plowers Paul Robinson (2-4), Tom Evans (5-2), MacKenzie Reinhart (5-2) and Tom Thede (6-2); all of whom placed in the top 10 of their class. Evans picked up his second Ontario Championship in reversible plowing placing 1st on two out of the four days. Also winning a day was Tom Thede in antique plowing. In Junior plowing on Saturday, Braeden Woefle placed 1st in Class 7-1, giving Thede back to back wins with his equipment, having won his class the day before. Our Queen of the Furrow Laura Fullerton also had great week, and placed in the top 5 out of 25 contestants. An outstanding achievement! Congrats to all for representing Bruce County so well!
  • Tom Evans of Tiverton became the first competitor from Bruce County to compete in the World Ploughing Championship, this past December in Kenya. He shipped his plow by boat in advance of the contest where he placed 8th in the reversible category. In doing so, he placed 2nd in the grassland competition, earning a silver medal. He is the first Canadian since 1976 to win a medal for his country.
  • Bruce County competitors take 2 of the top 3 awards in reversible plowing at the national championship in Sussex, New Brunswick. Tom Evans of Tiverton won the 2018 Canadian Reversible Plowing Championship and MacKenzie Reinhart from Teeswater took home 3rd place. As champion, Tom will represent Canada for the second time at the World Contest to be held in Minnesota, USA on Sept 1 & 2, 2019.
  • The 2018 Bruce County Plowing Match was held on Friday, August 31, 2018 on the farm of Ross Trask, east of Sauble Beach on County Road 8.
